Jan Willem van der Flier flew a solo sortie in Mustang

Jan Willem van der Flier, owner of “Scat VII”, flew a solo sortie in the Mustang for the first time at former Air Base Brustem (A-92 or “Saint Trond Airfield” during WWII).

Jan Willem went through a P-51 training program at Flying Aces Services & Training (FAST), located at Antwerp/Deurne Airport in Belgium. FAST is also providing the maintenance support for “Scat VII” and other aircraft in Jan Willem’s warbird collection.

During WWII North American P-51D Mustang, 44-72922, “Scat VII”, was flown by Major Robin Olds, USAAF, 434th Fighter Squadron, 479th Fighter group, 8th AF, Suffolk.
